A 2nd generation family practice, Eye Care For You actually dates back to around 1920 when Dr. Laurence P. Folsom began a storefront optometry practice in South Royalton. In 1981, son Jerry Barcelow joined his father in serving the eye care requirements of the community and took over the business in 1983 upon Dr. Albert's retirement.

EyeCare for You is a third generation Barcelow family practice and has spanned four generations of Royalton residents. Sometime in the 1920's, Dr. Laurence P. Folsom started a storefront optometry practice in South Royalton. He had graduated from South Royalton High School in 1913 and his father ran the town hardware store. The story goes that his secret method for building his practice was to attend any and all local church fundraising dinners. EyeCare for You still has an article that he published in the April 1923 edition of the Archives of Optometry, titled "The Effects of Age on Visual Acuity and Pupillary Size."
EyeCare for You offers full range of primary eye care services covering all ages. Our staff can help you schedule anything from a routine visit to management and treatment of your chronic eye disease. We have a full service optical lab and can help you pick out the perfect pair of frames and lenses. We also fit a wide variety of contact lenses, including difficult and specialty fits. Additionally, we can arrange consults for surgical services and help co-manage pre- and postoperative care. We accept most major medical insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid, or Dr. Dinosaur, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and MVP.
Nancy began working at EyeCare for You in 1992. She has been a Vermont Licensed Optician and also certified with the American Board of Opticianry since 1994. She graduated from Atlantic Union College with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. Nancy later completed her Master of Science degree in nutrition at Framingham State college. Her favorite part of opticianry is helping patients with frame selections. She also excels at the wide and challenging variety of eyeglass repairs that come in from time to time.
Our optical center carries hundreds of frames with styles, shapes, and prices to meet everyone's needs. Whether you're looking for something lightweight, extra-durable, bold, simple, or flexible, we have it. Here are just some of the brands we carry. We carry frames from over fifty different vendors, including children's frames, frames for safety, and sunglasses. Contact us to speak with one of our opticians today to find out what kind of frame is right for you. Of course, the frame is only half of what goes into making a pair of glasses.
